One of the greatest gifts that we as human beings are lucky enough to experience, is the ability to create. And I believe that doing something, anything in life that allows you to tap into that creative reservoir is vital to feel alive. I wholeheartedly believe that beauty truly is in the eyes of the beholder, and art in it’s many forms, should not be judged objectively.

Instead, wouldn’t it beautiful and wonderful if we could all just remember what it was like to be children? Not afraid of truly being in the moment & ready to let their imagination flow wherever it will to go.

This is a short portion of an explanation that Nikki gives Dylan about what art and creation means to her. I thought it was beautiful and incredibly truthful. So I wanted to share it with all of you as well. – Page 311

{ After Dylan’s day of solo exploration, he pulled in the driveway and went looking for Nikki. Hearing music from the pool area, he followed its notes until he saw her, clad in bathing suit, safety goggles, and leather gloves. The hilarious sight drew a great belly laugh straight to his lips. She raised the goggles onto her forehead and joined his laughter, knowing she must look like an alien who’d just been for a dip.

Dylan pointed at the piece she’d been sclupting. “I saw that piece the first day I came here. I like it. Does it have a special meaning?”

“It does for me,” she explained, “but all art draws forth different meaning and different emotions from those beholding it. Don’t you think? Like your work; every once in a while after you’ve listened to a million people pick apart a performance and analyze what you were trying to convey, don’t you just find yourself laughing?”

“Aye, I guess I do.”

“That’s one of the reasons I never took any art appreciation classes. Like – who gave the guy at the podium the authority to tell you how to judge someone’s act of creation…same with music or literature. I think all mankind must, by his very nature, create. You’re a master of creation!” she said, smiling lovingly at him.

“Some people’s art is finance, some acting, some healing – you know? Everyone must create. The passion inside of us needs to be expressed and when one works with passion, his work blesses not only himself, but also everyone around him. Too many people work hard, but with no passion, accepting employment that pays the rent and fills the coffers, but leaves an empty heart.”

“Anyway – even though this holds a special meaning for me, it isn’t necessary to define it to anyone else.” She turned away to return her tools to their leather case.

Dylan stepped quietly behind her, gently touching her bare shoulder and turning her toward him, lovingly connecting eye to eye. “I only asked because I wanted to know what it means to you.” He pronounced “you” with a distinct American accent. “I just want to know your motivation.” While smiling, he spoke softly, attempting to honestly draw her out.

Searching his eyes to see if he feigned sincerely, she answered, “Do you really want to know?”

He nodded and laughed at the redundancy of her question.

 www.flickr.com/ photos/algo/148280826/

Nikki hasitated, and then caressed the piece as she spoke. “It’s the trinity of existence. It represents to me the I AM Presence – God Individualized in man – as the large outer figure embracing the next two levels, but distinctly contributing to the Intelligence of the lowest. See how its arms reach full around the central character but come to rest on the head of the small figure? The central form represents to me our higher mental body – our Chirst-self, the great intercessor – who, while completely held within and part of the I Am Presence, reaches in full embrace to the lowest figure, distinctly contributing to the heart. The small figure represents the physical, or lower self. It’s God, Holy Spirit, and Christ. It’s the father, mother, and child. It’s Intelligence, Wisdom, and Love. It represents all the trinities of creation. Now you know.” }

What a beautiful representation of the creation of life! =)

What outlet to do guys use to create something in your lives? Is it music, art, food, dancing? Please share in the comments below.
