Can you believe Christmas is almost here? I still remember last year’s Christmas as if it were yesterday. Decorating the tree and the house, gathering recipes to make for the family Christmas dinner and then frantically grocery shopping the day before for all the necessary ingredients. Yes, indeed… I remember all of it as if it were yesterday. How is it that a whole YEAR has already passed, and now I have to go through the same routine mentioned above?!

Yes, my friends… Time really flies, doesn’t it? And I think the older I get, the faster it seems to fly by. Anybody else with me on this one?

This Week’s Hits are:

- Lack of Snow so far. Since we are on the Christmas / Winter subject… I might as well continue. It is the middle of December, and I am so happy to say that we have only had ONE “snow storm” here in Toronto so far… And even that wasn’t that crazy of a snow storm. I’ve touched on the issue of snow before, and if you read that post, you know that although I like the fairy tale beauty of snow, the reality of it is a lot uglier than the pretty, fluffy, white stuff that we tend to think of when we think of snow. Like for example, take this recent snow storm that hit the city last week: although yes, the roads were a dirty, slippery mess… it wasn’t as if you couldn’t drive at all. However, it seems to me like, every singe year, when it starts to snow for the first few days, it is as though everyone completely FREAKS OUT, and forget how to drive altogether!! I mean, seriously people, you live in CANADA, you’d think that by now you’d be used to driving in Winter conditions. But no, every single year, at the beginning of the Winter season and with the first few snow falls, people forget how to drive. It is a FACT. I am telling you… You must believe me!

- Funny voicemail greeting. Last week I was calling someone for the first time, and I got her voicemail. Now, if you’re like most people you have the same old boring voicemail greeting saying the same old boring message. (Hey, I’m not pointing fingers here, mine is the boring one too ) But when I dialed this lady’s number, I was pleasantly surprised to hear one of the funniest greetings to date. I had a huge smile on my face for a good half hour after hearing it. It was humorous, it was different, and I seriously considered changing my own greeting to the same one. No, I haven’t done it yet, but I still might.

Below is the word for word recording of her voicemail greeting. I know because I wrote it down. That’s the kind of nerd that I am. I knew I wasn’t going to remember it if I didn’t write it down. And I wanted to share it with all of you, my lovely readers, in hopes of spreading that smile over to you or perhaps inspiring you to change your own voicemail greeting to something funny as well:

Leave a message and I’ll get back to you soon.
Leave a funny message and I’ll get back to you sooner.
SING your message and I will call you RIGHT away.
Lets see which one you end up doing?!

Cool, no? I bet you, you can tell so much about the callers personality depending on which option they choose leaving their messages. =)

This Week’s Misses are:

- Forgetting people’s names when first introduced to them. This is a really big problem for me. I don’t know what it is, or why I have this problem, but every time I am introduced to somebody new, and you know the drill, you shake hands, and exchange names; 95% of the time, I will NOT remember the name of that person. That is so awful! I can’t quite figure out why that is, or how to rectify this problem. I have a really good visual memory, so I will never, ever forget the face or the name if I see it written down, but when I hear the name, my brain just blacks out and it just doesn’t register the name. Being a business owner, and in general while wanting to expand my network of people, I think this is one of the biggest issues I have to work on really hard, because there is nothing worse than meeting that person again some time later and not remember their name. YIKES!

Anybody have any useful tips on how to fix my little name loss problem?? I would really appreciate it if you could share your tricks to remembering names when first being introduced to new people in the comments below.
