Yes, my friends… it’s that time of the week again! Overall, I’ve had a great week, with not much to complain about.  A healthy balance of work & play, just the way I like it! =)

This Week’s Hits are:

- Social Networking. Specifically Twitter. This week I wrote an article about the Importance of Drinking Water. Like most of you already know, whenever I post a new article, I tweet the link to get the word out there. So I did the same with the post about Water. And one of my favourite authors, Robin Sharma (The author of many wonderful spiritual books, amongst which is the famous The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari), saw the tweet, read my post & RT (ReTweeted the link to his followers) and actually was sweet enough to sent me a Personal Message acknowledging the fact that he enjoyed the post and also to tell me he actually started reading The Teaching of Little Crow – The Journey of the Soul, which is my Current Book Feature on this blog, and that he is actually enjoying the book quit a lot! =)

Think about it, if it wasn’t for the ease of connectivity between people from all over the world, through Social Media, that interaction would have probably never happened. I don’t care who says what about Facebook & Twitter. Nothing in this world is perfect, and so these sites might not be ideal if you ask some people, but in my opinion they bring people closer, and make it easier to be connected to your friends, your favourite celebrities & the whole world at large. So in my books, Social Media is a HUGE Hit! =)

- Rock-climbing. About a month ago, I had a sudden urge to go rock climbing. Obviously, the indoor type, since I’ve never done it before. You gotta start small & build up big, to Mt. Everest, right? Who knows, maybe one day. Anyhow, back to the story. This weekend I was invited by a friend to go rock climbing, some what on a whim. I have to admit my first reaction was kinda hesitant, but then after thinking about it for a minute, I said “Heck, yeah, lets do it!”. You know how it goes, I send out those thoughts/vibes into the Universe about wanting to go rock climbing, and it presented an opportunity to do it… So I was excited to witness the law of attraction, in action yet again. ;)

And so we did it. It was a lot fun! It is such a great workout, and I totally loved the challenge of it all. It was also physically demanding. Just when you think you can’t hold on any longer, you know you can’t quit, so you look up, push through, and find something to grab on, and move yourself right up. Kinda sounds like a metaphor for life, doesn’t it? =) I loved it, and would totally do it again…

Next up… Sky Diving!!

Who is with me? =)

This Week’s Misses are:

- Another traffic ticket! But this time, I was really not at fault… Picture this: Sunday night, 1:30 am, I’m driving back form visiting my best friend Sara (I mentioned her here). All of a sudden I see all these flashing lights, cop cars stopping people in the middle of the road and checking for something. So I think, ‘oh, great, that’s all I needed now, but whatever, I haven’t been drinking, and I got all the documents with me, so nothing to worry about.’ So as I was sitting and waiting for my turn to talk to an officer, I pulled out my license & got out the insurance papers (or so I thought). I should mention here that I was driving my dad’s car (not my own). And so it is my turn, I drive up slowly and a young officer comes up, and explains they are just doing a routine check-up, asks if I have been drinking (I say haven’t), he complements me for having all the documents ready to show him, which speeds up the process (he says)

By now you’re probably thinking, so why is it a miss, it’s going so smoothly.

Here is why: The damn insurance paper that was in the glove department was EXPIRED!! AGH! The most frustrating part is knowing that my dad obviously has current insurance, and is normally THE MOST organized person I know, and always has all his papers in order. But of course, this one night, to be randomly stopped for no reason, and to not have the papers… I just had to smile about it…

The officer was actually sweet, he gave me plenty of time to go through all the papers, several times, because I kept claiming that I for sure had the current insurance somewhere. Eventually, I had to give in, the current insurance just wasn’t there. =( So he gave me a $65 ticket for Failing to have insurance papers, but explained that if we actually have the insurance papers then all we have to do is go to court and it’ll be withdrawn. So, inconvenient, yes! Could it have been worse? Absolutely, imagine if God Forbid there was an accident or something, and the insurance papers were missing. It could have been ugly. So I’m giving it a positive perspective! =)

Do you guys have any stories about being inconveniently pulled over & getting a ticket for something that wasn’t your fault?

    Hey Leyla,

Sorry to hear about that ticket, I’m sure it will be all figured out without having to pay for it. :D

On to the topic of social media, it is pretty exciting the type of people you can meet and connect with. And I’m only talking about having Shaq tweet about me but it can connect you with so many people who are either going through the same thing you are or are just interesting people who you would chatting with. Social media is definitely making this world even smaller.

    Keep rock climbing,

    Alex

    Hey Leyla,
No worries about the insurance paper. Just call the number at the back of the ticket and let them know that you have the paperwork. They will set up a time for you to go in and show the paperwork to an officer. It happened to me once.
    Good luck :)

Hi Five on the Robin Sharma Tweet! That’s awesome! I actually just got twitter and I am dying for the day when someone I adore or look up to tweets me or msgs me!

    Hey Leyla,
Don’t worry much about your traffic ticket and in no way be upset. Believe me, after my husband and I had a small car accident yesterday (but no ticket), I would prefer to actually get a ticket rather than get shocked and car damaged:-( So, say thanks to God, that all you got that pissed you off, is just a ticket!:-) I would put it to Hits, not Misses:-)

    Hi Lel,
Love the metaphor of rock climbing to real life…it is so true…Just when you think you can’t take another step, you push through and you succeed! Good job for challenging yourself to try something new and exciting… Who knows maybe I’ll go sky diving with you:)

    xoxo
