I’m excited to do my first ever Giveaway on Leyla’s Room today!

You could say, I am one of those people who enjoys giving gifts, more than I enjoy receiving them. To me, it’s the most exciting part, thinking of what that person wants, or needs and coming up with creative ideas to fulfill those wishes, and then of course, the feeling of anticipation before and right after the person opens the gift! Those are the reasons why I like giving gifts so much. Although it is true, if you don’t know the person well, it could be challenging selecting the right type of gift, but then there is always the generic things that anybody could use, like gift cards – impersonal, yes, convenient, also yes…

Since launching the blog 2 weeks ago, I’ve been thinking about doing a little giveaway. Just to show all of you, my lovely readers, how much I appreciate you taking the time and visiting my corner of the blogosphere from time to time.

I am the biggest advocate for keeping Journals for many reasons. I think it’s vital to keep some sort of a Journal where you take the time to reflect, to pour out your most intimate thoughts, ideas, feelings and yes, sometimes frustrations.

I’ve kept a journal for many, many years. I started when I was probably in grade 7 or 8, and although I have to admit I don’t write in it nearly as much as I feel I should, I am still so happy that I do. Because, let me you something, you think you remember who you were in the past, but we tend to sometimes exaggerate things in our memories, or downplay certain situations or experiences that happen to us. Or sometimes, we just simply forget some things that happened to us, or how we reacted. And it is honestly, such an interesting experience to sometimes re-read your past entries. When I do, it makes me smile, it makes me cry, it gives me a perspective into where I was and where I am today. It’s truly amazing, and by doing this Giveaway, I hope to encourage You as well, to start a Journal, and turn to its pages and share whatever is on your mind. I promise, you won’t regret.

Sometimes when I need advice on a certain situation, and I pick up my Journal and start writing, I get amazed at the kind of things that come out of me. Because we are all part of God, and are ONE with all that there is, we all have all the answers to our questions, and all the wisdom inside of us already. It is just a matter of connecting to that place. And I feel that keeping a Journal is the best way to do that, amongst other things, such as: alone time, time spent with nature, meditating, being active etc.

The Giveaway is the exact Journal pictured above. Here are the features:

- It’s simple but pretty ;)
- Has a hard faux-leather-like cover
-  240 Lined Pages (to pour your heart out night after night)

- And the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in a Journal, it’s got a Storage Pocket at the back! (pictured above)

Here are the rules of how to Enter for this Giveaway – Please Read Carefully:

Because I want my story to be written for my child to know me the way I am now, there are many stories I would like to remember always, I know I will not be able to tell all the things that happen to me, so many exciting adventures and special events. I have no babies now but if happens, I would like to write a journal for her/him.

Hey Leyla! Free advice and a chance to win gifts? Score!

Funny enough, I was actually at starbucks reading some a Seth Godin marketing book and I had all these ideas in my head, unfortunately i had no paper, only my iphone. Call me old fashioned but it’s not the same as writing it all down. I started looking around for a journal or notepad cause some starbucks carry them, but sadly not the one I was in. Coincidentally, I saw your posting for a journal giveaway, YAY! So really I’m just looking for a journal to write my ideas and notes in. It’s pretty and functional!

well, I hope I’m lucky and thanks for the opportunity Leyla!

What a coincidence, I really thought of having my own journal TODAY when I saw my lil brother coming back from camp with his journal in his hand!! He inspired me in having my own, to express my feelings, ideas, opinions, my dreams and all the great things I’ve been going through.. It is a great piece where you can see the reflection of yourself! It is always good to refer to it when needed.. Bring back memories, and fix what you really didnt like about that specific momentoo..
Just a great giveaway, and off course would love to own it =) ..

Here is my tweet about it >> http://twitter.com/DaloDasha

Loves it Leyla, keep it up

I have been journaling for a number of years now and, yes, I like to read what I wrote a few years/ months ago about different incidents. Through this journey in time, I have learned to trust my instinct more than ever. Every time I question it, I go back and read a few pages and voila! I love simple and practical journals with a LOT of pages; the one pictured matches the criteria :)

Like you, I have been journaling for years. My little journal has gotten me through fights with best friends, frustrations with school teachers, misunderstandings with parents, breakups with boyfriends, disappointments from difficult homework assignments, and personality conflicts with co-workers. More importantly, it has allowed me to express joy at life, excitement at meeting Mr. Right and then marrying that Mr. Right, experiencing that supreme love from having my two children and living the life I was ultimately meant to live. I have all of my journals placed neatly in my hope chest, strategically placed at the ready in case I should need a reminder of how I got to where I am today. They are as much a part of me as the thoughts in my head.

Hi! I found you from your comment on PW’s blog and had to come for a visit :)

I got away from paper journaling a few years back when I started writing on LJ, but I’ve realized it is a very different experience to sit quietly with a beautiful book in hand and scribe my thoughts.

I think I need to get back to that and I’ve always found motivation by finding beautiful books to write in.

P.S. I like the design of your site! Very simple, but lovely!

Lately i have been thinking that I really need to start a journal… just to record all those little everyday things that i think i will always remember but then don’t. All those cute things my kids say or do or sometimes its what i am going thru.

I have been wanting to start journaling for some time, but keep putting it off for some reason. I am bad to start something, and then abandon it. Maybe if I had a really cool journal to write in, I would keept it up! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

I need this journal because I have the most terrible memory ever and would love to be able to remember some past times, fun ones to enjoy, and bad ones to remember I should be greatful.

Hi There, found you on PW.

I need the journal for inspiration. I began a journal for my first daughter when she was born in a beautiful book. For my second daughter, I began a journal when she was born in a not so beautiful book. And the weird thing is, I don’t write in either of them now because I feel like daughter two is getting a bum deal out of the ugly journal! I know it’s ridiculous, but I’ve been looking for a new book for her. Please, my baby needs it. :)

I am currently in the market for a great new journal that I can take with me everywhere I go. Over the last year, I have had some major issues with anxiety/depression. It’s been a rough year and I’ve tried every possible route for help. So far, keeping track of the way I think and feel by writing it down has made a huge impact. I’ve learned that’s it’s not really possible to feel positive if I don’t think positive. Anyway, this wonderful realization has all been due to the lovely world of journal writing!

Such a pretty journal. I’d love to have it to begin to heal from a recent home invasion robbery. Something to write in to quell the lonely nights when I cannot sleep, and need someone, anyone, a page, to listen to my fears would be very nice.

  19. Posted September 8, 2009 at 2:01 pm

I would love to have this journal. There are so many little moments in life that will be forgotten unless I take the time to jot them down somewhere. This would help inspire me to do that.
